Rest In Peace, dear Mary!

Mary Lee is my ex’s mother, though she was always like a mother to me, too. I have known her for about thirty years and she had always been incredibly kind, generous, loving and supportive. It didn’t matter that her son and I were no longer together. She even loved my husband. My daughter adopted her as a grandmother and that brought her such joy. Mary lived very close to where my daughter attends college. She would take my daughter shopping and to lunch from time to time. And she’d come and spend Thanksgiving with us. Everything was so wonderful.

Until it wasn’t.

She just stepped out one warm night, a week ago today, and was struck and killed by a car. She was 79 years old but was in pretty good health and had years ahead of her, I’m sure. I can’t help but feel angry. The accident is under investigation and I pray that’s all it was—a truly unfortunate accident. I don’t think I can bear to find out that the driver was distracted or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

I also feel very guilty. I texted her on Easter and told her that I would call her during the week. I didn’t call and now I’ll never have the chance to hear her voice again. We were just texting, briefly, about an hour before it happened. It just doesn’t seem real. How I wish this was just a bad dream I could wake from.

It does comfort me to know that she gets to see her dog, Sadie, again, and her long-time love, “Peeps.” I hope they greeted her immediately and that she is at peace. She deserves it. She was a remarkable woman. I will never, ever forget her or stop loving her.

Friends, don’t put off that phone call, that visit, that text or email. Don’t let another moment pass by without letting the people you love know that you are thinking about them and how much they mean to you. Don’t take anyone or anything for granted. Life is short and sometimes cruel. Make the most of every day!

NEW COVERS FOR MY HILLARY BOOKS!

I am excited to finally replace the old covers on my Hillary novels with something that is (hopefully) more appealing! Behold:

Hillary: Tail of the Dog

I know people have grumbled about the eyes, but I just can’t part with the eyes! πŸ‘πŸ‘

It’s been said that you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover but people do. I must admit, I have at times, too. And I know that people have overlooked my stories because the covers are not alluring. Maybe now they will finally dare to meet Hillary.

Hillary: Flesh and Blood

Hillary: Retribution

Please help by voting!

What do you think of the following cover for an upcoming book, Fleabag? Please cast your vote—should I use it—YEA! or get back to the drawing board and try again?—NAY!

Do all the fleas make you itchy? 😊

Too simple? Too many fleas? Too boring? Comments are welcome and appreciated!

It has been a loooooong time....

To my small but loyal group of fans,

I want to thank you all for your patience, dedication, support and kindness through the years. Thank you for waiting months for my replies to your messages. Thank you for your encouraging words and motivation. Thank you for caring! ❤️

I know I have kept many of you waiting for book sequels and new material and though I won’t make any promises, I am truly planning to release some new work this year, hopefully by this summer. In the meantime, I am making an older story (from an anthology) available as a novella. It should be released within the next couple of weeks, I am just working on finishing the cover. You know how great I am with covers! πŸ˜‚

If all goes well (πŸ™πŸΌπŸ€žπŸΌ) I plan to release the following books this year (not in any particular order):

At Her Mercy - the sequel to Man Cave

Merry Mayhem - the sequel to the Merry Murder series

Mother Mayhem - a novel with supernatural elements

Fleabag - an extreme horror novella

I hope that 2023 is off to a wonderful start for all of you! I will do my absolute best not to fall into a black hole again!

Coming soon....
